Our January 1st episode with Rick Turoczy of Silicon Florist was just one such occasion.

We at Strange Love Live are honored to work with Rick on a regular basis and through the last year he’s become a friend, not just of the show, but of ours as well.  We planned to have him join us for a year end recap months ago.  Before we began recording memePDX with him and long before he and I conspired to create 30 Hour Day.

My point is, when we asked him to make a tradition of his year end recap with us, we were thinking that would be that.  He’d come do the show, share an overview of 2009, make a few predictions for 2010 and we would call it a night.  We didn’t think that the first 45 minutes of the show would, for us, take second stage to the announcements that we made in the last 15 minutes of this episode.

So watch or listen to this latest episode of strange love live full of recaps, predictions and announcements.  I hope it manages to bring some of the joy we took in recording it, to you.

And the week before?  Well you could have watched us live from 30 Hour Day, but we haven’t yet posted the episodes here or on iTunes because we’re bad that way.  It’ll be out soon.  Ish.  I promise.

But this post, not about any of that.  This is about your chance to see Dr. Normal shine in front of an audience without intervention or interruption by me, but only if you’re local.

Tonight at 7 PM at the Mt Tabor Theater (4811 SE Hawthorne) Dr. Normal will be participating in what he likes to call the “Sidekicks Edition” of 7th Planet Picture show.  7th planet is a MST3K inspired bad movie night hosted by Will Radik.  He asks 2 other commentators to join him each month and this time he’s got my darling man Dr. Normal and the fantastic Sabrina Miller of PDX.fm getting in on the fun.  What’s more, tonight is a double feature with  two post Star Wars Mark Hamill movies!  The show starts at 7 pm.

Come on out, join in the fun and support your favorite Portland podcast producer type and maybe he’ll let us do the show next week.

We’re trying something a little different with Afterhours to see how we like it.  We’ve decided to cut our late segment to 30ish minutes to make it more consumable for you.  Let us know what you think?  As for the content, it’s the same as ever.  We had so much to talk to Jemiah about that we didn’t get anywhere near all of it in.  For a change I’m going to tell you some of the things we sadly did NOT get a chance to discuss: What exactly we’ve been doing in the last 11-13 years since we last saw each other, Carnivale, tattoos, comic books and old friends that she probably doesn’t know were listening to the show.

Next Friday join us live at 10 PM with the “Locket Man” of twitter, Scott McCarty of Locket2You.  You may think he’s just a maker and pusher of really cool lockets but oh no…  he’s a wicked smart ass using technology to earn a living and support his lovely family.  Let’s find out more about Scott and what he has in store for these crazy internet times…  then we’ll see what kind of trouble we can get into for afterhours.  We may or may not have been planning a shtick for months now.  Let’s hope it doesn’t suck.
