Today Dr. Normal and I are down at the Mark Building of the Portland Art Museum setting up the SLL Productions part of this years Open Source Bridge conference.  As we ran cables, checked lights, tested mics, set up a table full of buttons and stickers and all the other things required we were discussing with some of the amazing organizers and volunteers our schedule during this week of Open Source goodness.

We’ll be streaming the key notes each day (9 am Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 3:30 for Friday’s closing keynote) and of course there will be B roll and interviews galore.  But one of the days we were most excited about is Friday which is a full day of unconference action.  Since we’re located in the foyer directly overseeing the Hacker’s Lounge there will be no end of smart interesting folks with things to say.  Really.  Yes.  Again I am being totally serious.

So I’m declaring Friday the day of Unconferene Uninterviews (as titled by Igal… I told you it was his fault).  If you’re attending OS Bridge stop by the Strange Love Live area (you can’t miss us when you’re heading into the Key Notes and Hacker’s Lounge) some time this week to sign up for a time on Friday to be interviewed on whatever it is you’re dying to talk about.  Be forewarned though, by the end of a week full of conference going I may be a little short tempered…  I’m wondering which would be more effective to get people off of my set, a gong or a giant stage hook.

Digital Journalism Camp, organized by Abraham Hyatt, is a first time effort in Portland.  The about section of the camp’s site says:

This isn’t about bloggers vs. reporters, or old media vs. new media. We’re all on the same team. And this conference is about how we, as journalists, are innovating right now — what’s working, what’s not, and how we can get better at what we do.

We couldn’t resist the chance to talk to Abraham about the upcoming camp so we pulled him into the studio to find out more about what we can expect.  Listen to the Tech Edition to find out more about it, including some of the panels and talks scheduled.  In afterhours we talk more broadly about newspapers, news shows and news on the internet.

Did I forget one very very important note?  Yes I sure did.  We pre-recorded this episode and without the wonderful @verso it wouldn’t have aired Friday night because Doc and I were out having a good time.  Kelly, that you SOOOOO very much for coming all the way over to roll our show and find bubbling kitchen messes!

We’ll be streaming from 9 – 5 Wednesday and Thursday from room B117 of the Oregon Convention Center.

Friday night we’ll change gears a bit and set up in the Hacker Lounge where we’ll be streaming live from 8 – 10 PM.

In a departure from the everyday… or every week as is the case with us, we did our show live from BarCamp Portland 3!  For the Tech Edition we talked to Amy Farrell and Todd Kenefsky two of the organizers of BarCamp Portland 3, then to David Kominsky and Eva Schweber of CubeSpace.  Having four guests in about 30 minutes really made the episode fly past.  Then it was time for Afterhours, and in the spirit of BarCamp we didn’t book any of our guests until Friday night at BarCamp.  People who wanted to come on the show were able to slap a giant sticky note up on the wall under the Strange Love Live sign.

We wound up with some amazing guests: @verso, @sparCKL, @yuetsu, @znmeb, @rmyth, @swagnerdesigns, @ctb, @sh1mmer, @alainbloch, @toonlet, @dom and @SarahDavies.   That’s 12 guests!  So much was said that I can’t possibly cover it all here, so watch the episodes or give them a listen.
